{June 17, 2008}   I Want a New Phone!

While sitting at one of my favorite local Chinese restaurants this afternoon with my boyfriend, I noticed a pattern in my behavior–whether or not I need one, I always want a new cell phone about a year after purchasing the last one. Usually, this is purely because I have a fondness for new gadgets. This time, however, my desire for a new gadget was spurred by a need I had that my current phone was not meeting.

Namely, I want to be able to take notes effectively on my phone. Rather than having to carry around a notebook, or send myself text messages (which is just stupid), I wanted to have a rough equivalent to Notepad available to me, and an efficient means for inputting data–a keyboard.

With a vague idea that a PDA phone is just what I needed, I bullied my boyfriend into stopping into the Verizon store while we were out and about the other day. After poking around a few of the displays, (I had actually gone in specifically to look at the new Samsung Glyde) I found exactly what I was looking for: the LG XV6800. As I mentioned, I’d gone in looking for the Glyde after seeing some commercials for it, but the reality of the phone was not quite what I’d hoped it would be. (The deal-breaker for me was that the phone did take a memory card, and didn’t appear to have any physical means for transferring data.) So, realizing this wasn’t going to be the phone for me, I looked around at some of the other PDA phones they had on display. Lo and Behold, I spotted the XV6800. Now, already, this phone had some major sticking points in it’s favor. My last two phones have both been LGs, and I have loved each of them immensely. The other thing in the 6800’s favor was that two friends of mine had both had older versions of the phone, which I had played with, and they both spoke highly of them.

After fiddling with the display for a grand total of 1.03 seconds, I was in love. I must have this phone! I will have this phone!

So, I’m going to do some financial finagling and see what I can do. :)

{June 17, 2008}   A departure from the norm

For those of you who do not know me, I’ve actually already got a blog elsewhere. This blog is one I created for personal reasons. It’s one I plan to use to discuss any of the things that would not be appropriate for my other blog. The readers of my other blog expect certain topics to be covered there, and likely are not interested in the day-to-day goings on of my personal life, so rather than bore them, I decided it would be best simply to move personal content elsewhere.

For those who wish, they can follow my non-WoW-related musings and (mis)adventures here. For those that don’t, this place doesn’t exist. ;)
